Amer Alsibai

MS in Arabic Language Studies Head of Instructors and Program Manager

Amer is a native of Syria with over nine years of experience in teaching Arabic as a second language and composing curricula for Arabic language studies. After completing his Bachelor Degree, Amer worked as a trainer and researcher at the Iqraa Institute in Damascus for three years. During this time, he refined his teaching skills and learned techniques in training new teachers. He then moved to Abu Dhabi in 2006 and joined the

as a trainer and researcher and a member of the founding authors of the current Mother Tongue curriculum.

He then completed a Master Degree in Arabic Language Studies from Omdurman University in Khartoum, Sudan with a “Good” rating. Amer then returned to Abu Dhabi and began training new teachers on the basic styles of teaching Arabic to non-native speakers as a foreign and second language and engaged in the continuous improvement of training teachers in this field.

In 2007, he was promoted to Senior Program Manager composing various curricula and programs for The Mother Tongue Center. He participated in and supervised the authoring of numerous curriculums such as the Al-Lissan series consisting of eight manuals, a workbook and teacher’s guide and the more recent Al-Bayyan series. He also prepared many training courses in report writing and correspondence in numerous government and private institutions in the UAE.

Amer strongly believes that the best way to truly learn a language is to submerge oneself into it from the very beginning and only resort to body language without using any other language as a medium. This is evident to anyone who observes his teaching style in the classroom as he encourages his students to continuously challenge themselves until they become very familiar with the language and comfortable in using what they learned.

He taught all levels of Arabic as a second and foreign language to a wide variety of different nationalities of non-native speakers in both private and public sectors in the United Arab Emirates and abroad. Students from his group, private and VIP courses include embassy staff, academics and senior managers in top government bodies and multi-national corporations.

Amer’s key areas of expertise for non-native speakers and native Arabs include:

  • (Advanced) Arabic Language Studies for Arabs
  • General Arabic Language Studies
  • Arabic for Diplomats and Economists
  • Arabic for Journalists
